ABOUT THE ARTISTS

MAX RAMSEY

Max Ramsey is a visual artist whose passion for drawing was ignited at a young age, evolving into a profound means of self-expression and catharsis. Raised amidst a backdrop of art supplies and anatomy books, their journey as an artist began in earnest during their formative years. Progressing through various levels of art education, including a transformative experience at the Fine Arts Center, they honed their craft and discovered a profound connection between art and mental health.

Drawing from personal experiences with ADHD, Depression, and CPTSD, Max finds solace and clarity through their art. Each stroke of charcoal and burst of color serves as a conduit for emotions that are often difficult to define. Mental health emerges as a central theme, influencing the mood, palette, and techniques employed in their work.

BEX MILLER

Bex Miller is a native of Upstate South Carolina, and has been making art in multiple forms for as long as they can remember. They attended the South Carolina Governor’s School for the Arts from 1991-1993, and moved on to Coker College to pursue creative writing and theater. Their passion for personal expression through art is their most potent source of liberation, growth, and purpose.

Stepping into the world of visual art has abundantly nurtured Bex’s healing journey of discovering their own authenticity of self. Their visual art, much like their writing and stage work, is woven with their fascination with and examination of similar themes: the dichotomy of light and shadow, interwoven connections of color, shape, and meaning, unusual perspective frameworking, and unsuspecting symmetry reflecting the rhythmic balance of the universe.
